Dear Netters
A few weeks ago I posted a message hoping to find an answer to the problem of stem length. Although I did not get many answers I would like to thank the ones that took the time to write. Their advices were very valuable and helpful and I will try to find some more information on that matter. If anybody still has some furher ideas or opinions about the optimal stem length in total hip replacements please send them to me. The actual question is: If a surgeon has to plan a total hip replacement and he has the possibilities to implant different stem lengths of the same design, should he try to implant as long a stem as possible or is there a optimal stem length for any design?
Is there a difference on optimal stem length in cemented or uncemented designs?
here my original message
