Midwest ACSM Meeting
The fall meeting of the midwest chapter of the American
College of Sports Medicine will be held at the Pheasant Run
Resort in St Charles Illinois from October 26 to October 28. To
encourage the participation of those with interests in biomechanics,
a significant portion of the program has been focused on this area.
This includes a keynote speaker in biomechanics (Professor James
Hay), a breakout session in biomechanics, and three invited
speakers who will present on: biomechanics of head injury, muscle
mechanics, and energetics of motion in children. Additionally,
those individuals (students included) involved in research in
biomechanics are encouraged to submit abstracts for inclusion in
the poster and free communication sessions of the program.
Beyond this, the conference will provide an ideal opportunity to
interact with exercise science professionals from a variety of
different disciplines. The deadline for submission of abstracts is
August 21, 1995. Information about abstract format can be
obtained from the March issue of the Midwest News (ACSM
newsletter) or by contacting : Dr. Thomas Ball, 134 Anderson Hall,
