Von Mises energy for bone?

Does anyone know a good reference for the critical Von Mises
distortion energy for cortical bone? I find that the V.M
energy in used by many who make finite element models of bones;
however, I have not been able to find a critical value for
typical subjects. Specifically, I'm looking for information on
the tibia.
