The Maurice E. M|ller Institute for Biomechanics in Bern, Switzerland
invites applicants
to fill immediate openings in the research group Computer Assisted Surgery
(CAS) of
the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Division. Responsibilities include work on
software and
hardware problems in image-guided computer assisted surgery. In an
interdisciplinary and
international team of researchers, solutions based on new technologies, such
as medical
imaging, surgical navigation, robotics, virtual reality, and surgical
simulation are
developed which influence the way we design, plan, simulate, and execute
surgical
procedures.
Ph.D. Student: Candidates holding a M.Sc., Diploma or equivalent degree in
engineering, computer science, or physics can apply.
Research Engineer: Qualifying applicants hold a B.S., HTL/FH Diploma or
equivalent
degree in engineering, computer science, or physics.
Diploma Work: Students planning to work on their Master's/Diploma theses are
invited
to contact us at any time. Three to six months of continuous work in the
institute is
preferred. Supplemental funding is available.
Good communication skills in English, German, or French and the ability to work
independently are required for either position. Experience with C, UNIX, PCs,
workstations, standard software, rigid body mechanics, or image analysis is
a plus.
