I am grateful to Professor Hatze for raising the idiosyncrasy of the
Cavanagh/Wu convention for kinematics. I'd like to point out, by way of
further suppport, that our proposal for a joint co-ordinate system for the
ankle complex (Allard, Kirtley, Rosenbaum, Siegler & Whittle) uses a
vertical Z-axis and plane-of-progression Y-axis. Of all the possible
issues, I would have thought this would have been least likley to cause
controversy!
Chris
