Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Physical Education and Kinesiology Dept. is
seeking a Biomechanics specialist for teaching undergraduate and graduate
biomechanics, including labs, starting September, 1996. Additional teaching would include one or more
of the following, depending on expertise: Management of Health Promotion
Programs, Management of PE & Athletics, Soc/Psych Aspects of Sport, Coaching,Officiating Theory,
First Aid/CPR, or physical education major activities.
It is a Lecturer position with a salary range of $30,300 - $36,300.
Qualifications: MS in PE or Health required: PhD and college teaching
experience preferred.
The Department has a new building, the bottom floor of which houses the
large Biomechanics & Motor Behavior Laboratory of approximately 4000 sq.ft.
Laboratory and research instrumentation includes a new Kistler force plate,
3-camera Peak5 Performance Motion Analysis System, A-D software; BioPac Systems data acquisition system for digital
and A-D data (EMG); appropriate computers; Qualisys Motion Plus 2D software,
anthropometers, timing systems, etc. Opportunity for research is good and
encouraged.
The Physical Education and Kinesiology Department is in the College of
Science and Mathematics and offers the Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees
in Physical Education with currently more than 370 Majors enrolled.
Concentrations within the major include Commercial and Corporate Fitness,
Pre-Physical Therapy, Teaching, and Health Education.
