Hello all Biomch-l recipients,
I am interested in feedback on the use of commercial multibody dynamics
software for use in modelling movement through either the
inverse-dynamics method or the forward dynamic method. I have come
across many packages which can do inverse or forward dynamics, but do not
generate code, or are easily interfaced with:
ADAMS
DADS
I-DEAS
I have found two commercial packages which can model 3-D mechanical systems
and then generate the code for the equations of motion; ie. force models,
joint constraints, open- and closed-linkages. It is important that the
system be able to model muscle-like actuators (ie. point-to-point and
non-linear force characteristics). The two packages that I have found
are:
AUTOLEV
SD/FAST
I would appreciate if I could get feedback from anyone out there that is
familiar with either or both of these packages, or some other software
which is comparable in generating equation-of-motion code in C and/or
Fortran for modelling multibody systems. I will summarize and post all
responses!
