Dear netters:
Who can give me a DEFINItion, but not a DESCRIPtion of the term
CENTER of ROTATION?
In some articles I found this term which sounds very mysterious to me.
And, in addition, can someone tell me the difference between that Center and
the INSTANTANEOUS CENTER OF ZERO VELOCITY which is term clearly defined
in engineering mechanics? I have checked several US textbooks on mechanics
(e.g. R.C. Hibbeler, Engineering Mechanics, Vol. on Dynamics), but could
not find any hint.
Sincerely
Volker Schlegel
lecturer in mechanics
P.S. When I first came across this term in some US publications I had
the idea that this term is an American invention I missed over here. True?
