Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The appointee will work in the new Motion Analysis Laboratory in
the Department of Health Sciences at the University of East London (UK)
and will be responsible for the day to day running and organisation of
the Laboratory.
The primary emphasis of the work in this Laboratory is the study of
the effects of musculoskeletal injury, disease and rehabilitation on
human movement. The Laboratory contains a 3-D motion analysis system and
a single force platform. Funding has been allocated for an EMG telemetry
system.
Applicants should hold a recent doctoral degree in bioengineering,
movement sciences or a related field. In addition, the following
abilities are desirable:
1. experience in 3-D motion analysis and understanding of
kinematic theory, vector methods, numerical methods for problem
solution, etc.
2. programming skills; need to be able to program in C or another
high level language, and to have a working knowledge of FORTRAN;
and experience programming on a PC and under the DOS environment.
3. skills in interfacing peripherals to a PC, and knowledge and
experience of data acquisition relative to both hardware and
programming.
The position is funded for three years with annual salary in the
range of stlg17,217 to stlg23,767 pa inc. In addition to undertaking
research, some teaching on our MSc courses and supervision of both
undergraduate and graduate projects will be expected. Encouragement
will be given for the appointee to seek extramural funding for
continuing in this position.
