  • Q - limiting factor for lifting

    G'day all,

I know I've read a paper which suggested that the limiting factor for manual
lifting was hip extension strength, but can't remember where.

Does anyone recall the paper, or have any other thoughts or references on
the question of what the limiting factor might (most commonly) be? (I'm more
interested in industrial situations, but don't feel excluded all you weight
    lifters.)

    Thanks,

    Robin

ps. I've put drafts of a couple of case studies related to ergonomics, one
on redesign of a control room, and the other on a manual handling task on my
web pages. I'm planning to use them with advanced undergraduates next
semester and would very much appreciate comments, feedback etc. Follow the
    links from http://www.uq.oz.au/~hmrburge/
