The University of Kansas Medical Center's Center on Aging is looking to
fill the position of Technical Director of the Human Performance
Laboratory. The focus of this research laboratory is on physical
performance as it relates to human aging, and is equipped to study
kinematics, kinetics, electromyography, strength, and endurance.

As part of a team of physicians, physical therapists, occupational
therapists, nurses and social scientists, you will develop and evaluate
measures of physical performance and the efficacy of rehabilitation in
chronic diseases of the elderly. You will work in collaboration with
researchers from the Departments of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy,
Neurology, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation Medicine and private industry.

Current projects include studies of stroke rehabilitation, Vitamin D and
strength, evaluation of a total contact AFO, and rehabilitation after total
hip replacement. You will be involved in all phases of research, from
conception and grant writing, through data collection, analysis, and
publication, with a strong potential for your own proposals.

Appropriate candidates would likely have a Doctorate degree in a related
field, experience in studying human movement, and a technical background.
Experience with video motion analysis, kinetic analysis, and
electromyography is required. Experience in working with human subjects
(particularly the elderly), computer programming, and electronics
important. Grant writing experience a plus. Minimum two year commitment.

Contribute your expertise to an experienced, world class interdisciplinary
    geriatric research team.
