KINESIOLOGIST FOR GAIT LABORATORY
The Shriners Hospital, Intermountain Unit in Salt Lake City, Utah has
an opening for a full-time kinesiologist in our new Gait Laboratory.
This laboratory is being equipped with a six-camera VICON 370 system,
four AMTI force plates, E-med and Pedar pressure distribution
systems, Motion Lab surface and fine wire EMG, upper extremity
instrumented walking aides and a motorized dynamometer. An
interdisciplinary team approach, consisting of physicians, engineers,
therapists, kinesiologists, prosthetists and orthotists, will be
promoted.
The Intermountain Unit supports both clinical and research efforts.
Clinically, we serve patients from six intermountain states and two
Mexican provinces with the most frequent patient conditions being
cerebral palsy, myelomeningocele, scoliosis and upper and lower
limb prosthetics and orthotics. Research efforts are strengthened
via a close affiliation with the University of Utah (the distance
between the University and Shriners Hospital is less than 2 miles).
In addition, there is potential for funding and multi-site studies
within the Shriners system.
Candidates for this position should have a B.S. degree in kinesiology
(M.S. preferred) and experience working in a gait or biomechanics
laboratory. Salary and benefits are competitive and based on previous
