TECHNOLOGY FOR THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC INTEGRATION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
AND ELDERLY PEOPLE (TIDE)
TIDE is a European Community initative aimed at the socio-economic integration
of people with disabilities or who are elderly, through the application of
modern technology. The principal objective of TIDE is the development and
matching of technology to the abilities of elderly and disabled people, in
order to solve many of their needs through the use of telecommunication,
information and control techniques.
Analysis of the use of the technologies applied to the subject area of indep-
endence of the elderly and of the people with disabilities (Rehabilitation
Technology) shows a fragmented market with multiple overlaps and other weak-
nesses, iuncluding the lack of coordinated politics for this target group, at
a European level. The present program aims at alleviating this situation.
Funds allocated: 8 Mecu during the pilot action
Contracts: shared costs (50/50), 1 - 1.5 years (labour, overheads, equipment)
Closing Date for Applications: 1991-07-14
