REVISED POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: The Department of Health and Human Development invites
applications for a nine-month, academic year, adjunct
appointment in Exercise Physiology (#446-2). This position
may be advertised as a tenure-track position during AY 96-97.
LOCATION: Montana State University-Bozeman is Montana's land-grant
university with responsibility for teaching, research, and
outreach. Enrollment is approximately 11,000 students.
EMPLOYMENT DATE: August 16, 1996
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise
physiology, exercise testing and prescription, and other
areas of related competency; contribute to on-going
multidisciplinary research projects; advise undergraduate
and graduate students in exercise science; participate in
faculty activities and serve the department, college, and
university through work on committees.
EQUIPMENT: Instruction and research equipment include two SensorMedic
2900 metabolic carts, Marquette Max-1 ECG with treadmill/
cycle ergometry, computerized SMI anaerobic testing
equipment/software, Tamarac pulmonary spirometry system,
computer-supported Polar heart rate telemetry, hydrostatic
weighing, and statistical/slide presentation capabilities
for both laboratory and mobile field research. Biomechanical
analyses may be performed using either high-speed cinemato-
graphy or multiple stations of Ariel Performance Analysis
System, two AMTI force platforms, preamplified EMG system.
Equipment associated with the ergonomics/human factors lab
includes a Lido Workset II isokinetic/isotonic dynamometer,
various strength and range-of-motion assessment stations,
and networked PCs with extensive engineering and analytical
capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: (1) Earned doctorate in exercise physiology or related field
(ABD will be considered). (2) Ability to teach undergraduate
exercise physiology and exercise testing and prescription.
(3) Foundation to teach graduate exercise physiology.
(4) Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication
skills.
PREFERRED: Preference will be given to those candidates who demonstrate:
(1) a record of scholarship, (2) success in obtaining
external funding, (3) appropriate ACSM certification or
willingness to pursue certification, (4) proficiency in use
of listed lab equipment, (5) willingness to contribute
to on-going multidisciplinary research.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
