Hereby I may announce a vacancy at our faculty Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology

We are looking for a:

Professor of Ergonomics specialising in Product Ergonomics.

The position.
-------------
The Chair is in the area of the theory of man\product interaction, involving general and
physical ergonomics and the application of ergonomics to industrial design. As professor you will
be responsible for the first year course in Product and Systems Ergonomics, and for between ten
and twenty masters projects per year. You will participate in the two year graduate course in
Advanced Industrial Design Engineering, and make a contribution to ergonomics lectures and
practicals.
You will provide leadership in the research programme in man\product interaction and physical
ergonomics, and you will supervise about five doctoral programmes. We expect that you will be
prepared to develop and foster external contacts and sources of funding in your research area. You
will be expected to undertake administrative functions at section, department and faculty level.

The person.
-----------
You have a thorough knowledge of the background, theory and methods of physical
ergonomics including anthropometry and biomechanics and an extensive experience of the
application of this knowledge to series product development, with the emphasis on ergonomic
quality. A sound understanding of design ergonomics is essential. Our preference is for an
Industrial Design Engineer, but we are also interested in someone with a similar background and a
PhD in the technical sciences.
You are able to provide direction and leadership in teaching and research in a way which inspires
and unites the colleagues in your section. You have strong didactic ability, and experience of
working in multi-disciplinary teams. Your international professional experience is a strong
recommendation.

The salary is in accordance with one of the salary scales for professors .
There is automatic membership of the pension fund.
