Dear subscribers,
It is good to see that the quality of postings on Biomch-L
continues to improve. We are learning to make good use of this
medium. I specifically want to mention the posting by Joshua
Swamidas , who did an excellent job of
summarizing the replies to his question on missing markers. What
also amazes me, is the quantity and quality of replies sent to
Joshua. Biomch-L is truly unique in that respect.
Now, we won't expect everyone to spend that much time on a
summary of replies, but the least we should expect is a true
summary of the main points, followed by the full text of all
replies. The summary should give enough information to decide
whether or not to continue reading. It is not enough to just
copy all replies and post it.
On the negative side, today we also were informed by Ariel
Dynamics about their technical problems with the Web server. I
have informed them that this is not appreciated. Such postings
can give the impression of advertising, even though their
intentions are probably good. I ask other companies to exercise
restraint in such matters as well. If in doubt, please contact
me before posting. We all get enough E-mail already.
