Centre for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering
The Centre for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering (CRSE) is a joint
initiative between the Schools of Human Movement Studies, Mechanical,
Manufacturing and Medical Engineering, and Physics. The CRSE has been
established to contribute significantly to the development of Queensland
University of Technology (QUT) as a major Centre with an international
reputation for research in this field. This will be achieved with the
development of strong alliances with medical, community and commercial
organisations to address major health care issues through collaborative
research, consultancy and education. The Centre seeks a Director who is an
active and internationally recognised researcher in one or more of the
following priority areas of research and development: design, manufacture
and evaluation of prostheses and orthoses; and the development of
non-invasive physiological measurement devices and techniques with
applications in occupational, sport or rehabilitation settings. The
appointment will be for an initial term of three years with the possibility
of an extension for a further two years. A suitable candidate will be
appointed as Professor of QUT.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: The Director will provide outstanding leadership,
technical and organisational skills and ensure that the Centre is managed
with a strong strategic and commercial focus in the area of rehabilitation
technology. The Director will be responsible to the Management Committee of
the Centre and will lead a team of full-time researchers, together with
involved staff from the three contributing Schools. The Director must be
able to interact with government and industry leaders and other research
organisations in Australia and overseas, and to communicate and interact
with organisations and individuals at all levels. Applicants should have a
PhD in a field within rehabilitation science and engineering or have
equivalent accreditation or standing.
SALARY: $AUD81 780 pa
