Department of Exercise Science
The Department of Exercise Science at The University of Iowa seeks an
individual to fill a newly created faculty position. This is a tenure-track
position at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek an individual who can
contribute to our teaching mission in the areas of Athletic Training and
Anatomy, and who shows a strong potential to develop a vigorous program of
independent research. Individuals trained in disciplines such as Athletic
Training, Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, etc may be particularly
well-suited for this position. =20
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a young investigator to
develop an independent research program in one of the leading Exercise
Science departments in the country. The Department of Exercise Science
offers undergraduate and graduate degrees including the B.S., M.S., and
Ph.D. in Exercise Science, and the B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Science with
specialization in Athletic Training. The undergraduate program prepares
students for both professional (medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, etc)
and graduate school. Research laboratories include Anatomy, Biomechanics,
Exercise Physiology, and Motor Control. Ongoing basic and applied research
programs include collaborative efforts with investigators in the Colleges of
Medicine and Engineering.

an independent program of research, teaching an undergraduate course in
anatomy, team teaching courses in the Athletic Training Program, directing
the graduate curriculum in Athletic Training, supervising graduate and
undergraduate research, and service activities. =20
QUALIFICATIONS:=20
Essential:
=B7 Ph.D. or equivalent degree in hand or expected by August, 1997
=B7 Strong potential to attract external funding for research
Desirable:
=B7 NATA certification and/or degree in Physical Therapy
=B7 Postdoctoral research experience
