We are in the process of having force plates installed in a new
movement laboratory at the Intermountain Shriner's Hospital. Since
we will be primarily collecting gait data on children it has been recommended to us
that we place the four force plates 4 1/2", 6 1/2", and 8 1/2" apart,
respectively. We are also planning to collect posture data. Does
anyone have any thoughts on placing 2 of the force plates next to
each other, rather than apart, so that we can place one foot on each
force plate for collection of this type of data? Any thoughts on
advantages and disadvantages would be appreciated.
