POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, within the Research Institute at
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, announces an available faculty position for an
individual with specialization in the area of Biomechanics. The level of the
appointment will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications. An attrac
tive
start-up package is available. The successful candidate must be an independent
investigator, who has established his/her own research program, is willing to
contribute to existing research programs and be involved with graduate student
training. Presently, biomechanics research in the Department of Biomedical
Engineering includes studies of the effects of aging on mobility, the effects of
diabetes on connective tissues, nervous system control of skeletal muscle, and
the effects of musculoskeletal loading on bone architecture and composition.
This work includes human and animal experimentation and mathematical modeling.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in bioengineering, biomedical enginee
ring,
mechanical engineering, or a related discipline, have a demonstrated history of
publication in his/her specialization area, and demonstrated ability to pursue a
nd
secure extramural research funding. Excellent verbal and written communication
