Delphi is very good, but also consider that Fortran is used
by most researchers for their computational software. So, if
you don't need to have nice user interfaces, you may want to keep
using FORTRAN.
By the way, there's a compiler/editor/debugger called Microsoft=20
FORTRAN POWERSTATION for Windows 95, that compiles FORTRAN 77,
but also has graphics commands, and many useful extensions. Very
nice in all of its parts (included the editor), believe me.
Besides, Fortran subroutines for almost all possible numerical
algorithms are offered for free on the internet (search for NAPAC
on the WWW). I believe subroutines for other programming languages are no=
t
available for free.
Fortran is old but still a standard for scientific applications.
