SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT: Kinesiology Assistant Professor Position
The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences at Ithaca College has opening
for an Assistant Professor, tenure-eligible, to start August 15, 1997.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate Kinesiology/Functional Anatomy and
associated labs. Other duties include pursuing scholarly activities, advising
students, and performing professional service.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required qualifications include a doctorate in Exercise Science
or related field (ABD considered), demonstrated teaching competency, and
demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly activity. Desired qualifications
include added credentials such as ATC, OT, PT, RKT, or CSCS, and the desire and
ability to focus the course -- especially labs -- around clinical applications that
hold relevance to exercise science, athletic training, and fitness/wellness.
Clinical applications include, but are not limited to, manual muscle testing and
qualitative/quantitative gait and posture analysis. Credentials or skills in other
areas of movement or somatic education (e.g., Feldenkrais Method, Alexander
Technique) will also be looked upon favorably.
RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor, tenure-eligible. Salary is competitive and
commensurate with experience and credentials.
DEPARTMENT AND COLLEGE: The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences has
18 full-time faculty in athletic training, fitness/cardiac rehabilitation, exercise
science, sport management, sports information/communication, and sports
studies. Ithaca College is located on a hill overlooking the City of Ithaca and
Cayuga Lake in the heart of the Fingerlakes region of Central New York State.
Abundant recreational and cultural opportunities exist in the region. Cornell
