    NOTICE OF VACANCY

    POSITION: Professor and Chair

    EMPLOYMENT DATE: July 1, 1997

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    A scholar of national stature, serving as chair, will be responsible for
    leading the department into becoming a nationally recognized department and
    to assist the College in becoming a premier land-grant College of Education.
    The chair is expected to be a scholar, with an active research program in
    health, wellness, or exercise and sport science, and to be responsible for
    department administration, long-range planning, recruitment and evaluation
    of faculty, development of active scholarly agendas within the department,
    facilitation of faculty scholarly and external grant activity, alumni,
    public relations and fund raising.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    REQUIRED: A national reputation for scholarly work and an earned doctorate
    in one of the specialization areas represented within the department, with a
    strong preference for health, wellness, or exercise and sport science.
    Substantial record of scholarship commensurate with senior rank. Successful
    college/university teaching and administrative experience.

    PREFERRED: Record of extramural support.

    SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. Position is for 12=
    months.
