    LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN SPORT SCIENCE

    A well qualified sport and exercise scientist is required to augment the existing
    team in the delivery and development of this highly popular area of study.
    Applications would be particularly welcomed from individuals with
    qualifications and expertise in the areas of biomechanics or coaching science.

    In addition to teaching and administrative duties, the successful candidate will
    be expected to contribute to the development of research and consultancy
    activities. Successful experience working with athletes and coaches is
    desirable, as is evidence of working towards British Association of Sport and
    Exercise Sciences (BASES) accredited status.

    Job Specification

    The successful candidate will be required to:
    - contribute to the teaching at undergraduate level of biomechanics and/or
    coaching science;
    - undertake administrative duties in relation to the Sport Science
    undergraduate programme as required;
    - engage in scholarly activity such as research and consultancy and undertake
    personal development activities as agreed through the University Personal
    Development Programme;
    - develop working links and partnerships with outside agencies e.g. Health
    Authorities, Sports Council;
    - undertake duties in relation to the organisation and development of Sport
    Science within the School's Modular Scheme as prescribed by the Director of
    School;
    - undertake such duties as may arise from changing circumstances and are
    prescribed by the Director of School.


    Person Specification

    Essential:
    - Higher Degree in relevant area
    - Excellent communication skills
    - Good organisational and administrative ability
    - Progressive outlook in relation to curriculum and course development
    - BASES membership

    Desirable:
    - Strong research record
    - Experience working with elite athletes
    - BASES accreditation
