The Department of Health & Performance Sciences at the Georgia Institute of
Technology is initiating a search for a nine month tenure track faculty
member, either at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, in the area
of movement science. Research interests focusing on the biomechanics of
movement as it relates to skeletal muscle and hard tissue mechanics (bone)
are desirable. Training in mechanical engineering, bioengineering or a
    related field is also desirable.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach at the graduate and
undergraduate levels and show evidence of successful teaching; contribute
to the expanding academic life of the Department of Health & Performance
Sciences and have demonstrated the ability to secure funding and conduct

the efforts of the existing faculty and invite applications from a range of
relevant disciplinary perspectives. A PhD or equivalent terminal degree is
    expected and university experience preferred

The Department of Health and Performance Sciences is located in the College
of Sciences and is currently developing a research and graduate program in
the movement sciences. Research collaborations within the Institute and its
wealth of technological expertise as well as with Emory University, the
University of Georgia and Georgia State University serve as the foundation
for the current expansion of the Department. Georgia Tech is a public,
research oriented institution with an enrollment of 12,000. New external
research awards for the past year exceeded $185 million and the SAT scores
for the 1995-96 entering freshman class averaged 1248, ranking it first
among public universities in the U.S. Georgia Tech is located in Atlanta,
the financial center of the southeast and the site of the 1996 Summer
    Olympic Games.

Screening of applications and nominations for this position will begin
immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is located.
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, three samples of recent
publications, and the names of three individuals who can be contacted for a
recommendation. Applications should be addressed to:
