ISB Working Group on Functional Footwear
THIRD SYMPOSIUM ON FOOTWEAR BIOMECHANICS
Tokyo, Japan, August 22-23 1997
---------------------------------
TRAVEL AWARDS AND RESEARCH PRIZES
---------------------------------
As previously annouced, the Working Group's next Symposium will be held
as a satellite meeting of the XVIth ISB Congress in Tokyo Japan, August
22-23 1997 with a welcome reception on the evening of August.
The deadline for abstract submissions is March 15, 1997.
Converse, Adidas America, NIKE and Mizuno have agreed to sponsor the
Symsposium. The generosity of their contributions makes it possible to
invite guest speakers to the Symsposium, to offer travel assistance to
presenters who would otherwise be unable to attend and to minimise
registration fees. In addition, Adidas America and NIKE, Inc. are
offering research prizes for the most significant papers in applied
research and basic research respectively.
-------------
Travel Awards
-------------
Four travel awards of $500 each are available to assist with the cost of
travelling to Tokyo for the Symposium and the ISB Congress. Applications
are invited from those whose expenses would not otherwise be fully
covered by their academic institution, employer or other sources.
Priority will be given to researchers presenting their work at the
Symposium. Research students are encouraged to apply. Informal letters
of application should accompany abstract submissions and be received by
the abstract deadline of March 15th 1997. These travel awards are
intended to assist cases of genuine hardship. Please do not apply if you
have alternative sources of funding. In the event an award is to be
offered, potential recipients may be asked for a letter from their
institution confirming the lack of alternative funding.
