Orthopedic Research Fellowship Position
The Mayo Clinic is pleased to announce a fellowship in Division of
Orthopedic Research. This fellowship, a collaborative effort of the
Orthopedic Molecular Biology Laboratory and the Orthopedic Biomechanics
Laboratory, provides an opportunity for full-time research over two
or three years. The fellowship is supported by a five-year grant from
the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin
Diseases (NIAMS) of the National Institute of Health (NIH).
Eligibility:
PhDs or equivalent training in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology,
cell biology or biomechanical engineering.
Physicians with training in Orthopedics.
Research Areas:
(1) Develop cross-disciplined research skills in the environment of
established, well-recognized biomechanics and molecular biology laboratories,
and (2) use these skills to develop independent research with a mentor.
The research begins with a current project of studying micro-level
biomechanics of extracellular matrix.
This program is designed to train physicians and non-physicians interested
in musculoskeletal diseases. Potential candidates should be interested in
a career in academic medicine or basic science research in a field related
to musculoskeletal diseases.
