Knowing It, Proving It, and Getting Reimbursed for It!

September 12 to 14, 1997

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS:

* Conference programming will emphasize the application of outcome
measurement for three tracks: Clinical, Research, and Management.

* The key note address, followed by an interactive panel discussion
of experts in rehabilitation and third party payers will highlight
the importance and realities of outcome measures for documenting
the efficacy of treatment in today's managed health care environment.
The conference sessions will emphasize practical strategies for
maintaining clinical excellence and documenting outcomes, given
the constraints of managed care.

* Leading experts in rehabilitation will be presenting on a variety of
topics, including: Evidenced-based medicine--Applications in
rehabilitation, Science is fine, but what do outcomes mean?, Outcomes
of performance measurements by CARF, NCQA, & JCAHO, Assessing process
in relation to outcomes, Predicting outcomes as a case management tool,
Interpreting ordinal measurement scales, Quality of life measurement,
Single-case methods for accountability and evaluation, Measuring
patient recovery across the continuum, Performance indicators for
rehabilitation programs, Case management, Functional outcome measures,
Consumer perspective on outcome measurement, Outcomes for TBI and
stroke, Outcome measures in pediatric rehabilitation, Assessment
of human muscle performance, Postural assessment and implications
for intervention, Maintaining clinical excellence during the
managed care cultural transformation, and Today's rehabilitation
continuum: Clinical, financial, and outcome considerations.

* Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group programs, discussion sessions,
and research forums (TBI, Measurement, Pediatrics, Pain, Lymphedema,
MS, Ethics, Sexuality, Spirituality). Opportunities for networking
with interdisciplinary specialists in your area(s) of interest.

* Interactive learning exhibits to obtain first hand experience with
state of the art rehabilitation technology.

ACRM MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
Consider joining this dynamic interdisciplinary organization for
rehabilitation professionals. Membership dues are $150/year
(dues are somewhat higher if your income exceeds $50,000/year)
Student membership $40/year, Corresponding member outside of US
$160/year. Members in all membership categories receive the
Archives of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation monthly journal,
Rehabilitation Outlook newsletter, and membership in
Interdisciplinary Special Interest Groups of your choice.

ACRM MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of ACRM is to "promote the development of
multidisciplinary leadership and practice innovation for
efficacious rehabilitation management of chronic disease and
disability across the life span." ACRM membership is comprised of
a wide variety of health care professionals who provide care for
individuals with disabilities (rehabilitation specialists &
related disciplines), as well as researchers from rehabilitation and
related fields who investigate issues of importance for
individuals with disabilities. Consequently, ACRM is a dynamic,
interdisciplinary organization which promotes interaction and the
exchange of information between a wide variety of professionals
and researchers who are interested in promoting efficacious
management of individuals with disabilities.
