    Postdoc Fellowship Available
    in Biomechanics

    Department of Orthopaedics
at the University of Hannover, School of Medicine,
    Hannover, Germany

Applications are solicited for the research position from those who have
displayed or show promise of significant research interest in the area of
biomechanics and related fields. Qualifications include an outstanding academic
record, significant publications in major peer reviewed journals, a doctorate in
or related to biomedical engineering with at least one engineering degree, and a
    demonstrated commitment to research.
Potential areas of specialization include spine, foot and ankle, or knee
biomechanics, with the use of 3D motion measurement systems (OPTOTRAK), computer
assisted surgery, and/or other biomechanics application areas.

The Department of Orthopaedics, School of Medicine Hannover, is one of the
leading Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery in Europe. The biomechanics
laboratory is established and well equipped.
Several funded projects are currently carried out.

The projected project for this engineer is part of a new research program
investigating spine stability. The project is divided in two parts. The first
"in vitro" part is a basic biomechanics project (stability tests of cadaveric
specimens with simulated spine deformities and their surgical treatment). The
second is an intra operative "in vivo" project. It is planed to validate the
results of part one within intra operative 3D motion measurement during a new
    developed stability test procedure.

The position is funded for one year with the option for another year. The salary
is German BAT 2A (about US $48000).
