Interpreting the Vision

Annual Meeting of the
INSTITUTE OF BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING
Hyatt Regency Hotel, Minneapolis, MN

August 7-9, 1997

IBE'97: "Interpreting the Vision" will bring engineers, scientists, students,
and educators within the biological engineering community together in a common
forum to:

· discuss emerging issues in biological engineering theory and practice;
· evaluate current trends in biological engineering curricula development and
delivery; and
· establish a framework for continued collaboration.

THE PROGRAM will include keynote, invited and contributed presentations and
posters from industry, academia, and government. A wide range of topics in
education, research and practice will be presented, in sessions focused on
current thinking in:

· Biological Materials
design
non-invasive analysis

· Biomedical Engineering
biocompatibility
biomechanics and imaging
drug formulation and delivery

· Bioprocess Engineering
biomass conversion
cell culture and fermentations
downstream processing

· Ecosystem Dynamics
phenomenology
modeling and simulation

· Environmental Engineering
aerobic and anaerobic digestion
biofilters
bioremediation and phytoremediation
wastewater treatment by natural systems

· Food Engineering
processing and packaging
rheology
sensors and image analysis

· Biological Engineering Education
