BIOMECHANICAL HEAD OF A NEW RESEARCH CENTRE
We are in the process of developing a new sport research center, located in
a sport center near Montreal which has about 5000 members, concentrating on
the study of sport surfaces, sport shoes and general musculo-skeletal
questions. For this center we search for a
Biomechanical Head
with training and expertise in multidisciplinary research on sport
surfaces, sport shoes and other musculo-skeletal research questions. The
first task of this Biomechanical Head would consist in developing the
Center which should open in fall of 1997. In the first phase, the new Head
would be involved in further developing (together with the board) the
strategic plan for the center, ordering or building appropriate equipment
and hiring technicians and employees. In the second phase, the Head would
be responsible to define research projects, to attract research projects
from industry and to apply for funding through the national and
international research granting agencies. The position is a combination of
research and business.
The remuneration consists of a base salary and a performance related
portion and will be according to the qualifications of the applicant. The
successful applicant is expected to have a Ph.D. in Biomechanics, some
knowledge of rubber compounds and its production processes and a strong
interest in the combination of research, product development and industry
applications. The successful applicant should be fluent in English and
French and have some knowledge of the Italian language.
