University of Northumbria at Newcastle, England
    Division of Sport Sciences

The Division of Sport Sciences will shortly place advertisements in the
national press (Guardian, THES) to elicit applications from suitably
qualified persons for the following post. It is anticipated that the
successful candidate will begin no later than January 2000.

LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER IN SPORT BIOMECHANICS

This will be an exciting opportunity to direct a very well-equipped
biomechanics laboratory and to further individual research interests.
The Division has enhanced its facilities and equipment very
    substantially
over the past 2 years and the successful applicant will find
    laboratories
that include a Strain Gauge Force Platform, Video Analysis System,
Isokinetic Dynamometer, Muscle Lab, Electromyography System,
Musgrave Pressure Plate, Sprint Treadmill and SRM Isokinetic Cycle
    Ergometer.

The successful applicant will contribute to teaching, research and
    consultancy
in this specialism. The Division has sufficient flexibility to allow a
suitable candidate to pursue a career development path, whether as a
    young
developing scientist or a more experienced individual who wishes the
    freedom to develop particular interests.

The Division hopes to attract individuals who are knowledgeable about
    the
use of sport science in supporting performance sport and in attracting
research funding. The successful candidate will have (or possibly just
    be
finishing) a Ph.D. and will have been active within BASES. It is
    preferable
that the candidate will have experience in sport as a performer, coach
    or
    support personnel.
