Dear all
I am a graduate student investigating the mechanical properties of
cortical bone, following preservation and sterilisation techniques
used in tissue banks.
I would like to hear from orthopaedic surgeons (or anyone with hands on
experience of bone allograft material)
For the purpose of these questions;
Preservation=freezing or freeze-drying
Sterilisation=irradiation or ethylene oxide gas
1) Have you found that the mechanical integrity of bone allograft appears
to be better in tissue preservered in a certain way -and therefore prefer
to use this tissue?
2)What experiences have led you to form these opinions?
I would also like to hear from anyone conducting similar studies and would
be grateful for any feedback/suggested contacts.
Thanks!
Debra
