Soft-Tissue Modeling

Part of SPIE's International Symposium on BiOs '98 International
Biomedical Optics Symposium

24-30 January 1998

San Jose Convention Center

San Jose, California

Conference Chair: Jeffrey C. Lotz, UCSF

Program Committee: Robert L. Galloway, Vanderbilt University

Sharmial Majumdar, UCSF

Robert L. Sah, UCSD

TimesThe ability to
accurately delineate soft tissues within 3D medical images has many
applications in both clinical and laboratory settings. The purpose of
this symposium is to provide a forum to discuss current methods used to
identify and track soft tissues. General topics of interest include,
but are not limited to, the following areas:

* methods for developing 3D models from image datasets

* delineating soft tissues within images

* tracking soft tissue motion

* non-invasive determination of tissue strain

* real-time imaging during surgery

* computer simulated surgery

* image registration

* soft tissue model validation

* functional/clinical assessment from dynamic soft tissue images

* impact of image resolution in the assessment of tissue architecture

* interfacing numerical simulations of tissue behavior with image
datasets
