Hello biomech-l,
I need a clinical definition for neutral or zero rotation of the hip.
Physical therapists may recognize Hoppenfeld's (1976) definition: neutral
rotation of the hip is achieved when the knee is flexed to 90 degrees and
the leg is vertical. However, I am looking for a more descriptive
definition. I was told that nuetral rotation of the hip can also be
defined as the alignment of the knee axis (axis connecting the medial and
lateral epicondyles) and an axis connecting the right and left ASISs. If
this is a definition, I need the reference. Can someone shed some light
on this matter?
Respectfully,
