The 1997 American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) meeting in Denver
concluded only 3 days ago. Through the dedicated efforts of several
individuals, and of Steve Messier in particular, the amount of programming
of interest to the biomechanics community at this meeting has increased
dramatically in recent years. At present, the biomechanics interest group
of ACSM is in the process of developing program ideas for next year's
meeting June 3-6, 1998 in Orlando, Florida. On behalf of the interest
group, I would like to invite all members of this community to:
A) Consider developing symposia, lectures or special programs for the
1998 ACSM meeting. Programming reflecting interdisciplinary or clinical
perspectives are encouraged; however, programs of interest mainly to
the biomechanics community also are welcome. I will be glad to forward
information to interested individuals or you may obtain it from any
fellow of ACSM. The deadline for submission of all programming ideas is
June 23, 1997! If you are interested, please act fast.
B) Mark your calendars and attend the 1998 ACSM meeting. The 1998
ACSM meeting will be preceded in Orlando by the FIMS World Congress of
Sports Medicine May 30-June 3, 1998.
C) Consider membership in ACSM.
If you have further questions, please contact either myself or Jesus
Dapena (dapena@valeri.hper.indiana.edu).
Thank you.
