Programs in Physical Therapy at Northwestern University Medical School will be
seeking applicants for the position of Research Engineer.
Description: The successful applicant will be responsible for the design,
fabrication, installation, testing, and maintenance of various types of
real-time data acquisition and control systems for human movement and motor
behavior experiments. The systems may include but are not limited to 1)
motion analysis, 2) force platforms and transducers, 3) EMG, 4) balance
perturbation and control, and 5) joint motion sense detection and evaluation.
The applicant will also be expected to assist faculty in conducting research
projects involving humans, which requires effective communication with people.
Qualifications: MUST have drafting and machining skills (i.e., CAD, drill
press, lathe, mill, arc welder, and band saw) and basic knowledge of
electronic circuit design and construction, and working knowledge of PC data
acquisition/control hardware. BS (MS preferred) degree in engineering or
related area with a minimum 1-2 years appropriate working experience required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
