MOTION ANALYSIS LABORATORY
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA
The Motion Analysis Laboratory at the University of Virginia is accepting
applications for a post-doctoral research candidate. The Motion Analysis
laboratory is part of the University of Virginia Medical Center and
associated with the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The laboratory
is responsible for clinical assessment of motion dysfunction and is an
active research facility in orthopaedic biomechanics and motor behavior.
The facility boasts a six camera VICON motion analysis system, two force
plates, 16 channels of EMG, a two channel 6-D electromagnetic motion
analysis system, an isokinetic dynamometer and a computer facility. The
laboratory employs a full time PT, a laboratory engineer, a laboratory
manager, as well as graduate students and orthopaedic residents. The
university is located in historic Charlottesville VA, adjacent to the Blue
Ridge mountains of Virginia.
Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Biomedical
Engineering, or related field, and research experience in motion mechanics.
The ideal candidate will have experience in musculoskeletal modeling, EMG
analyses, and willing to participate in the preparation and submission of
research and grant proposals. The initial position is for one year, but
may be extended pending funds.
