tumor growth and kinetic expression

Does anyone have a reference that would show simple cellular growth kinetics
that could be taught at a freshman level.
We are looking for applications in biomedical areas. we have examples for
evironmental and bioprocessing areas.
This is for a Intro. course to Biological Engineering.
