    POST DOCTORAL POSITION in FINITE ELEMENTS/EXPERIMENTAL BIOMECHANICS.

    Title: Development and validation of a three-dimensional finite element model of the human femur derived
    from multiple medical imaging modalities

    Post Doctoral Research Fellow required from 1 October 1998
    in the School of Engineering and Computer Science to work
    on EPSRC funded project for 18 months.

    The project involves both numerical and experimental
    modelling of the static and dynamic behaviour of a loaded
    human femur. Applicants should preferably have a Ph. D. in
    an engineering/biomedical field. Experience of experimental
    techniques and experience of the finite element method
    would be an advantage. Starting salary 17,570 p.a.

    Additionally funding available for any one interested in an
    M.Phil or Ph.D. in the area of biomechanics (Head injury
    mechanisms/ orthopaedic implants) or theory of plates and
    shells.
