    The Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University seeks to
    hire a talented engineer to join our program of development of computer
    simulations of musculoskeletal systems. A description of the requirements of
    the position is given below. The job location will be at our facility in the
    Good Samaritan Hospital of Baltimore.

    Salary level offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
    Engineer will assist the laboratory in its program of development of
    advanced computer models of biomechanical systems, combined with associated
    graphics visualization software. The engineer will implement mathematical
    algorithms in computer simulations in order to calculate muscle forces and
    joint contact pressures during various biomechanical functions. Also will
    develop 3D computer visualization applications to enable the interactive
    display of the results of such simulations. Software will be developed
    primarily on Silicon Graphics workstations, and will use standard programming
    languages combined with graphics libraries.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Master's degree in engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering,
    Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics) is required. Must have a strong
    background in solid mechanics and rigid body mechanics. Must have experience in
    development of engineering simulations and 3D visualization software. Knowledge
    of C/C++ and OpenGL languages will be very helpful. Work experience in a
    research environment a plus.
