Hi:
Just wondering if anyone knows of any good articles about concussion
causation/potential especially (but not necessarily) related to moderate
automobile collisions. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the responses. They were very helpful. Here is a summary of
what I received.

SAE has published a book by Dr. Alan Hyde called:
Crash Injuries. You may want to chck that out. There is a short
discussion of head injuries including closed head injuries to the
brain.
*************
You might try
A.K. Ommaya & A.E. Hirsch's, Tolerances for cerebral concussion from
head
impact and whiplash in primates. J. Biomechanics 4: 13-21, 1971.

Hi , the book Biomechanics of impact injury and injury tolerances of the
head neck complex edited by Stanley Backaitis and produced by the
Society
of Automotive Engineers has about a 1000 pages of papers on exactly what
is
said in the title and should be pretty useful.

Thanks for the responses - FYI - I found the book Biomechanics of Impact
and Injury Tolerances.... to be very useful. I've also found the book
Accidental Injury - Biomechanics and Prevention edited by Nahum and
Melvin to be a good reference for head and spine injuries as well.
Thanks,
John
