  • Sportsci.org - new issue

    Dear colleagues in sport science

After a hectic Fall semester start-up, the latest update of the
Sportscience website is now available at http://www.sportsci.org

Dominating Sportscience News this issue are reports from three
    meetings:
the FINA Swimming World Congress, the 10th Annual International
    Conference
on the Biochemistry of Muscle, and the USOC-ACSM summit on training
    and
    competing in the "mystery zone".

    Also:

Fred Hatfield provides a detailed report on the conditioning methods
    of
world champion heavyweight boxer Evander Holyfield.

In her Compeat column, Louise Burke explains why and how the
    carbohydrate
glycemic index should be used by athletes.

In History Makers, Frank Katch writes how James Lind ran the first
controlled clinical nutritional trial, which led to the cure for
    scurvy in
    sailors.

On the stats pages (http://www.sportsci.org/stats), Will Hopkins
    describes
a new improved method for analyzing crossovers that takes into account

    learning effects.

Lars Mc Naughton and colleagues have added a review on
    bicarbonate/buffer
loading to the Training & Technology Pages.

We have also updated the Links list and added our own form for
    searching
    the Sportscience site.

    For the Sportscience team
