RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION AVAILABLE
A Research Assistant (RA) is needed to help investigate the human balance
system. Goal of the research is to understand how normal individuals and
individuals with balance disorders process sensory information on earth, to
understand how astronauts adapt to a zero-gravity environment, and to
develop new clinical tests to diagnose balance disorders. RA will perform
a variety of tasks, including subject testing, data analysis, equipment
development, etc. Applicant must have at least a B.S. in Science or
Engineering, good communication skills, and enthusiasm for scientific
investigations of human physiology. Experience with physiological testing
and computers is highly desirable. This is an exciting opportunity for a
highly motivated individual to work both independently and as part of a
laboratory team to conduct high quality medical research using
state-of-the-art facilities.
The RA will work with two investigators and their co-workers at the R.S.
Dow Neurological Sciences Institute in Portland, Oregon. Portland is a
vibrant city with both extensive cultural opportunities, for those who
prefer the city life, and world-class recreational opportunities, for those
who prefer the mountains, forests, rivers, and coastline.
