    Gait Laboratory Senior Physical Therapist

    Shriners Hospitals for Children, Springfield, Massachusetts is a 40 bed
    pediatric
    specialty hospital offering the highest quality orthopaedic medical care to
    children and adolescents at no cost to the patient or the patient's family.


    Shriners Hospital is seeking to employ a qualified, highly motivated
    individual as Senior Physical Therapist in the Gait Analysis Laboratory.
    The laboratory was established in July, 1991 and has been responsible for
    more than 1500 comprehensive clinical gait analyses in the past six years.
    Responsibilities will include extensive involvement in the clinical
    evaluation of patients; the synthesis of kinematic, kinetic,
    electromyographic, and clinical examination data into a comprehensive
    report used for treatment decision-making; and involvement as part of a
    developing research team.

    This position is offered as a full time, 40 hour per week position.
    Candidates must have a minimum of a B.S. in Physical Therapy, at least two
    years of experience working in a clinical pediatric environment, and must
    be eligible to practice Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of
    Massachusetts. Direct experience in a clinical gait analysis laboratory is
    preferred. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and
    experience.

    The Gait Analysis Laboratory is equipped with a six camera Vicon VX system,
    two AMTI force platforms, a ten channel hardwired EMG system, a
    Sensormedics Metabolic Cart and an F-Scan insole plantar pressure
    measurement system. The laboratory is staffed by an engineer, a physical
    therapist, and a technician and utilizes a team approach in assessing the
    posture and walking patterns of children and adolescents with cerebral
    palsy, myelodysplasia, club foot, hip deformity, scoliosis, and a myriad of
    other neurologic and orthopaedic conditions.
