Biomechanics Faculty Position
The University of Michigan, Section of Orthopaedic Surgery is actively
seeking a mechanical/biomechanical or bioengineer to join the faculty of
the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in
engineering and expertise in biomechanical research. This is a tenure
track position within the Department of Surgery with the possibility of a
joint appointment in an appropriate basic science or engineering
department. The individual will be expected to develop independent
extramurally funded research within the Orthopaedic Research Laboratories
as well as collaborate with both clinical and basic science faculty within
the section of Orthopaedics. It is also expected the candidate will
participate in the sections' training program. The Orthopaedic Research
Laboratories at the University of Michigan include extensive facilities for
advanced computing and image processing, materials testing, device and
component fabrication, and histologic and molecular analyses. Preference
will be given to candidates with experience in experimental biomechanics
with a particular interest in joint kinematics, soft tissue mechanics and
previous fruitful collaborations with Orthopaedic Surgeons. Salary is
commensurate with experience with excellent fringe benefits.
