  • Torsional properties of cortical bone

    Dear all
I am about to attempt a series of torsional tests on specimens of human
cortical bone. Most studies seem to have used whole bones or torsion
testers after Burstein and Frankel (1971)

I would like to hear from anyone who has conducted torsional tests on
specimens taken from cortical bone and can offer any advice as to size of
specimen (obviously limited by age and sex of femur)and testing device
    used.

I would also like to hear from anyone who has advice on cutting bone for
testing. I currently use a diamond bandsaw cutting device but find its
    reproducibility a problem .

    Any comments welcome,
    Thanks
    Debra.
