JOB ANNOUNCEMENT IN MOTOR CONTROL
A post-doc position is available at the Motor Control Lab, Dep. of
Kinsiology, K. U. Leuven, Belgium. The applicant is expected to collaborate
on various projects that center around the study of the control and learning
of patterns of interlimb coordination with a specific emphasis on bimanual
and upper/lower limb coordination. In addition, the focus is on the study of
normal subjects of various age categories as well as on patients suffering
from motor disorders, such as Parkinson's disease and CVA. With respect to
the study of Parkinson's disease, collaboration has been set up with the
Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the Faculty of Medicine with the
aim to study the changes in motor control as a result of unilateral pallidal
stimulation. The project is focused upon the detailed characterization of
coordination deficits in the affected and unaffected side, following a
unilateral cerebro-vascular accident. This project is conducted in
collaboration with the University Hospital in Pellenberg, Belgium.
Control and learning issues are addressed from a multidisciplinary
perspective including biomechanics and kinesiology, experimental psychology
and the behavioral neurosciences. Applicants with an interest in one or a
combination of these areas who can demonstrate evidence of their capability
to publish in high-quality journals pertaining to motor control are
encouraged to apply.
A letter of application, curriculum vitae, copies of academic
transcripts and recent publications should be mailed before january 25 (1998)
to Prof. Dr. S. P. Swinnen at the address below. Salary is negotiable within
certain limits.
