  • Metabolic energy models

    Dear All,

I am interested in modelling the relationship between metabolic energy
requirement and mechanical energy output in muscles. There's plenty of data on
time averaged mechanical efficiency and there are a number of models that look
at the various force/length/velocity/power relationships, but the ones I have
encountered don't seem to incorporate instantaneous measures of metabolic
efficiency. I hope that someone more in tune with the vast muscular physiology
literature can point me to some work on this (either theoretical or empirical)

    Any and all help appreciated.

    Thanks
    Bill Sellers
