    Faculty Position Announcement

    Director/Associate Dean
    Institute for Physical Therapy Education
    School of Human Service Professions
    Widener University

Widener University's Institute for Physical Therapy Education continues
    its
search for a program director. The qualified applicant will have the
opportunity to continue development of an exciting program with a
    creative and
    collaborative faculty.

CAPTE accreditation was granted to our full time, day, 3 year program,
    leading
to a Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree, in the Spring of
    1996. The
institute is part of the School of Human Service Professions, which also

offers programs in clinical psychology, education and social work. In
addition to the chairperson, the program has eight full time faculty
    with a
wide range of interests and experience. The full time faculty are
complemented by a large number of excellent adjunct faculty. The
    program has
close affiliations with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
    for
its anatomy instruction and with the nearby Crozer Chester Medical
    Center for
clinical teaching. There are a total of 120 students enrolled.

The program was established on the belief that individual and cultural
differences have a significant impact on health outcomes. The
    objectives of
the program include training students to develop skills sensitive to
    these
differences, to develop a habit of life long learning, and to be
    intelligent
    producers and consumers of research.

The successful candidate must be a qualified physical therapist who has
experience in teaching, managing an academic program, and implementing
research; has the energy, vision and communication skills to promote the

activities of the faculty; and has experience working with the APTA at
    state
and national levels. Completion of a doctoral degree is preferred.

The position is a full time appointment with tenure eligibility and
    salary
commensurate with credentials and experience. The program director
    reports to
the dean of the School of Human Service Professions. The position is
available starting in July of 1998. Widener University is an equal
opportunity employer. Women and members of underrepresented groups are
    encouraged to apply.

A letter of application and curriculum vitae should be submitted to:

    Dawn Gulick, PhD, PT, ATC
    Chairperson of the Search Committee
